Supporting Women Into Commercial Transportation
There are life-changing career opportunities for women and gender-diverse individuals in the skilled trades and transportation – but to get started, they need a support system.
About Women Building Futures
For more than 25 years, Women Building Futures has surrounded women and gender-diverse individuals with the support they need to get into resilient careers that improve their economic security and help industry meet the demand for skilled workers.
Supporting women into commercial transportation
Only 4% of commercial truck drivers in Canada are women, leaving many out of well-paying careers that could change their lives. Our programs not only help women get into the professional driver’s seat but will also keep them there. Our transportation programs provide women and gender-diverse individuals with free skills training, support services and connections to employment.
Professional Class 1 Driver Program
Students gain the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to enter the commercial transportation industry. We prepare students with hands-on training and classes covering safety, workplace culture and theory.
Professional Class 3 Driver Program
We help students prepare for and succeed in entry-level careers in the driver operating industry. The program provides students with safety awareness training, certifications, workplace culture preparation, and theoretical and hands-on training.
