Description
The Professional Class 3 Driver program is a free 6-week training program designed to help women prepare for and succeed in driving and operating careers in industries like construction, energy and freight. Our goal is to help you find entry-level employment in this field.
During the program, we provide you with the necessary safety awareness training, certifications, workplace culture preparation, and both theoretical and hands-on training. We will also help you with the Class 3 road test.
With this program, students can start their careers as a Class 3 driver, operating equipment such as hydrovacs, cement trucks and garbage trucks.
Courses and Skills
- Basic safety certifications
- Driver training and practice time with licenced drivers
- Workplace culture and financial literacy
- Interview & resume workshops to support employment
- Ongoing mentorship and support through alumni advisors
Admission Requirements
- Full class 5 Alberta driver’s licence (no GDL)
- A clean 5-year COMMERCIAL driver’s abstract with no infractions (applicants are responsible for covering the cost of the driver’s abstract)
- Must be an Alberta resident
- Must be Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
There are a variety of steps applicants will need to complete as part of the recruitment process. This process will be completed with the support of an admissions and enrolment advisor.
Applicants at the final stage of the admissions process are responsible for covering the costs of the Government of Alberta Class 3 Knowledge test. The admissions and enrolment advisor will let you know when this is required.
Program Cost
- This program is carried out in partnership with a certified driver training school, and it’s endorsed by the Alberta Motor Transport Association.
- Additional funding and awards may be available to support living expenses while in the program.
Employment Opportunities
Upon completion, graduates will be interviewed with WBF Employment Partners for potential employment as an entry-level Class 3 driver.
