Women Building Futures was honoured to be nominated for the Inclusivity Award at this year’s Outstanding Business Achievement Awards (OBAAs)—Lambton County’s most recognized industry gala celebrating business excellence across sectors and sizes.
The Inclusivity Award is given to organizations that make a conscious, sustained effort to advance inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA), while fostering a healthy, positive, and productive workplace culture. Out of 13 local organizations nominated, WBF was one of just four finalists who accepted the nomination and applied to be considered for the award.
The 2025 finalists in the Inclusivity category were:
• RBC
• Lambton College
• Lisa Isaac HR Professional Services
• Women Building Futures
While the award went to Lisa Isaac HR Professional Services, we were proud to stand alongside these forward-thinking organizations in championing IDEA values.
At WBF, inclusion isn’t an add-on—it’s the foundation. Our commitment is deeply embedded in everything we do:
- We provide culturally responsive training to all staff, including Indigenous cultural awareness and neurodiversity training.
- We maintain gender-neutral facilities and continually assess our own practices through surveys and feedback loops.
- We support industry transformation, offering tools like our Work Proud Inclusivity Training, launching soon in Sarnia-Lambton, to help employers foster safer, more welcoming environments in the trades.
And at the core, we believe that for women and equity-deserving individuals to pursue trades careers, they must first feel welcome, respected, and safe.
Being nominated is a reflection of the ongoing impact our team, partners, and community are making together—and we’re just getting started.
