Sierra often wondered what it would be like to drive big trucks for a living while getting to see the country, but it wasn’t until a friend told her about the Professional Class 1 Driver program that she considered a career as a truck driver.
She had researched the requirements to get her Class 1 Driver’s Licence before, but the cost kept her from moving forward. “It’s expensive to get a Class 1 Licence. It wasn’t something I could afford at the time,” Sierra shares.
“I was encouraged to apply with WBF after hearing about a few people who got their Class 1 Licence [through the program]. Their training was covered, and they were able to get good jobs afterwards.”
Since graduating from the program and getting her licence, Sierra has found secure employment with an employer who supports her professional growth.
“For anyone interested in the Class 1 Driver program or Women Building Futures for anything– go for it. It will change your life.”
