Description
This 16-week program will provide you with two weeks of basic safety certifications and workplace readiness training, students will receive hands-on introduction in both trades.
Upon graduating from the in-class time (8 weeks) spent with WBF, graduates will embark on a paid 8-week work placement with employers in Lambton County:
- 4-week Automotive Service Technician
- 4-week Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
What is Auto Service Technician?
An Automotive Service Technician performs preventative maintenance, diagnoses problems and repairs vehicle systems in cars and light trucks.
What is Heavy Duty Equipment Technician?
A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician inspects, diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, and verifies the repair of heavy duty equipment.

Admission Requirements
- Women and gender-diverse individuals
- At least 18 years of age
- Resident of a municipality or First Nation community located in Lambton County, Ontario
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Academic requirements to expedite movement into apprenticeship role:
- Canadian high school diploma or equivalent (CAEC, or as formerly named, GED)
- Class G drivers licence required
- Reliable transportation to employer job sites
- Pass 50-pound lift and carry test
Program Cost
Funding provided by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program.
